“509 Roofs” is a family friend, and this Christmas all friends and family were invited to decorate a gingerbread house! I’ve never done a “real” gingerbread house and thought this was a perfect opportunity to get my hands dirty/sticky. The only rule was to use the Costco pre-built gingerbread house.

I then took a trip to my local Walmart and bought some extra stuff…
- Another gingerbread house (The Casa Navidena)
- Ready-Rolled Fondant
- 5lbs of Fondant
- Lots of sprinkles
- Piping bag with different attachments
- Fondant paint and brushes
- Chocolate icing and Green Frosting
- Graham Crackers (2 boxes)
- Family size Cinnamon Toast Crunch (For the roof)
- Giant & small Pretzel Sticks
With no plan I just started to piece the 2 gingerbread houses together along with some graham cracker structures and finally arrived with a skeleton I liked.

I worked 2 days straight with a lot of trial and error, a lot of wasted fondant, 2 dropped and broken pretzel ladders, sugar glass EVERYWHERE, and a giant mess. But, despite the tribulations, I think the end result was worth it. And a new gingerbread house tradition has been started.
